The Time Traveler’s Wife

After watching so many movies last year, I almost came to the conclusion that the movies made for 2009 had nothing to be excited about.

TV shows were much better than movies! One good example would be Terminator Salvation. It was really not a good movie, with lousy plot and a nonsensical ending, if you would compare it to its siblings : Sarah Connor Chronicles. SCC was so much better, with interesting story line and full of unexpected twist.

Then I stumbled upon The Time Traveler’s Wife.

It was a love movie. Yeah, I didn’t really like any love movie. In fact, I usually switch off the TV after 10 minutes into those movies. Thus when I said I like it, it may came rather as a surprise, even to myself.

The movie was about Eric Bana as a time traveler. Contrary to the usual plot, in this movie, he could not dictate when he would travel or where he would travel to. He was just … a victim.

As he was doomed to a lonely life, he suddenly found that even with such an unpredictable lifestyle, there was someone who willing to accept him as he was. Rachel McAdam seemed to be in love with him, for some years, even before he met her!

I like this movie as it avoided all the pitfalls (or rather, all the popular selling points) of love movies:

1) Quarrel over petty things
2) Deciding who should change to fit who
3) Asking for things that are really not fit for us who are mere mortals

Instead, this movie touch on so many good points of human:

1) Even as traveler (willingly or unwillingly), he has a place call home where he can return to
2) Accept him as he is
3) Both of them are not selfish
4) They don’t ask for much in life, instead seemed only want to make those people around them happy

I would not even hesitate to say that this movie may rank within top three movies for 2009, on my list

You can watch Ninja Warrior on TV9 & My dad is better than your dad every Friday – can’t remember the channel.
My children love both of the shows & of course the tricks to the magic show every Tuesday.
