A lie of convenience

I received a call on Friday.

a lie of convenience

Lady: I am calling from EON credit.

Me: Yes?

Lady: I would like to confirm a loan, from one of your staff.

Immediately become wary, I asked: And who would that be?

Lady: Ms xxxxxxx

Surprised, I asked: When did she apply for the loan?

Lady: Just a couple of weeks ago

I exclaimed: But she had resigned more than 14 months ago

Her turn to be stunned: She is still so young!

I was exasperated: Look here, you mean young girls don’t resign from their job?

After 3 seconds of silence, she resumed her questioning: Are you sure she doesn’t work for there anymore?

Rolling my eyes (hopefully she could have see that too!), I answered: Of course I am sure. I am the one paying her salary! Miss, please write down clearly that she does NOT work here anymore. I would not want any trouble after this.

Looks like my ex-nurse had just used her old employment letter to apply for a loan. A lie of convenience. Sigh.

So what will happen if the loan is approved? It doesn’t affect you right?

  9. July 8th, 2008 | 2:32 pm

Jonzz, if she pay up, obviously it doesn’t affect me
But if she defaulted (as her last loan), then it reflects badly on me

Isn’t it true that most doctors are loaded? With many of them driving flashy cars, like beemers and benzes?
So, ripping you off a bit will not hurt what!
