Wrong priority

Again another stupid knee-jerk reaction.

KUALA KLAWANG: Local women intending to travel abroad alone may need family consent in a bid to prevent them from being used as “drug mules” by international syndicates.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said a proposal to this effect would be made soon to the Cabinet, following several incidents where women were used to smuggle drugs overseas.

What is this? Another stereotyping exercise? This Dr Rais think he is cleverer than most women?

And please tell me, how would ‘family consent’ prevent you being used by drug cartel? Your family would actually hire private investigator to do background search on the company before allowing you oversea? Dumb suggestion.

And don’t even get me started, when we compare this to ‘the need to inform family when you convert to Islam’.

So, you need not inform your family when you are converting, but you need to get consent when you want to travel.

Can’t they ever get their priority right?
