Standard of rice consumption?

I will quote Agriculture and Agro-Based Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed:

Each adult Malaysian consumes a per capita average of 77kg of rice per annum so there is room for a reduction by substituting it with more intake of vegetables and emphasising a healthy diet

Excuse me. So there is actually a measurement saying what is the appropriate consumption of rice per annum?

And we can actually say: you are eating too much rice, so there is room for reduction?

So if I eat 50kg of rice per year, I guess there isn’t much room for reduction?

Ministers really have ways to open our eyes.

Really wonderful statement. I wonder who voted for this guy.

That day I read that government will subsidize rice. But Malaysians are advised to “change our eating habits”.

That means what? Eat fan shi ah?

Anyway with the recent rice price increase, I’m eating less rice already. For financial health and for body health.

I worry we can replace rice with bread, noodle or potato, but not vegetables.

Wheat price is also on the rise…
