Huge Improvement

While I was surfing, I was suddenly cut off from the Internet.

When I knew that I could not reconnect to the lifeline, I decided to call up Streamyx helpline.

streamyx

After the usual 5 minutes wait, one lady picked up the phone.

Me: I was surfing the net with streamyx, and suddenly got cut off.

Lady: Lemme get your username … verify phone number …

Here is the amazing part.

At this point, I would expect her to say: Are you beside your computer? Lets check a few things. Please unplug your phone line, your modem, your network card, reboot your PC … and call me later …

All these never came out of her mouth!

She just say: Let me check your port …

wait 5 seconds …

She continue: It seems that you port has a ’system hang’ there, and I have reset it for you. Off your modem now, after 30 seconds to one minute, you should be able to resume surfing.

Me: (stunned beyond speech) …. so fast? After one minute I can reconnect?

Lady:  Yes.

Me: Thank you, so much…

I barely can believe her.

Well, after 90 seconds I restart my modem. Hey, I got online again!

Wow, from the time I got disconnected to reconnect, barely eight minutes had gone by!

Streamyx helpline taken some aphrodisiac or what?! So damn efficient eh.

p/s Eve, look look.

yenjai, they even call me back, to confirm my line is ok, after i opened a case with them.

Usually will take them 48 hours to rectify a problem

    Yenjai,
Next time if the girl ask you to check network card…restart modem and so on…Just tell them you’ve done everything. Then she’ll restart your port. Or, she’ll ask the telekom man to go to your place. :)

Not sure how come last time they doesn’t want to do like this way?
More easier for customer especially those that not so good in computing…

We encountered the same things too. I think they have the system to check our internet connection status.. If they can restart the port for us then better lor… else sometimes we follow their procedures to restart our modem also cannot work one !

Efficient but not safe, if they can access your port, they can access your pc…duhz

    Iceman
I don’t think they are accessing the port on my pc
They are accessing the port on their server
