Six Unimportant facts About me (part 2)

Posted in Uncategorized on Feb 28th, 2008, 8:22 am by yenjai

As I have stayed in so many places, naturally my childhood memory is pretty fragmented.

Whenever people talk about their childhood friend, I can only keep quiet.

I just didn’t stay long enough in a place to make friends (which will stick in my memory).

Till today, I can only remember one of them.

I studied in SRJK (c) Zhong zheng, Sitiawan when I was 8-year-old, for the next 2 years.

There was this girl, who was like a princess. As her mum was our class teacher, she sort of have a ’special status’.

She always pass up her homework on time, can do all her spelling correctly, and later become the class monitor.

Me? I seemed to … have this teeny problem of … finishing my homework on time. Needless to say, I can’t do my spelling correctly. The ‘pangkah’ always outnumbered the ‘tick’.

So her mum (our teacher) always scolded me: You. Don’t you have ambition? Work harder!

And when I was at home, my mum will always tell me: That teacher is proud of her daugther. Look at the young girl. So brilliant. She will have a bright future (be a scientist lar …. top lawyer lar …)

I moved away from Sitiawan two years later.

In Ipoh, whenever anyone from Sitiawan came visit my parents, and when they were talking about news from that place, I would listen eagerly for any news about this girl. (stupid me. To my young mind, I thought the news from this place HAS to be about this girl. LOL)

Needless to say, I never heard anything about this girl since.

Even many many years after we moved away, we still wondered aloud what had happened to this girl. Whether she had a successful career? Married happily?

Same here Yenjai. People talk about their KG friends or have gathering with their Primary School friends etc and I can only think of them as lost nearly all contact.

Yes, I support Firehorse, go visit your old teacher and show how wrong she was …. then at the same time you can ask about that old friend.
