Say NO to sexist

PETALING JAYA: The Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG) has condemned sexist remarks by MPs and wants sanctions against MPs who discriminate against women.

Sisters in Islam (SIS) spokesperson Zaitun Kasim said sexist MPs had repeatedly stereotyped women as emotional and childish, whose respectability was dependent on their marital status.

JAG comprises SIS, the Women�s Aid Organisation, Women�s Development Collective, All Women�s Action Society, Pusat Janadaya (Empower) and the Women�s Centre for Change in Penang.

�The reason these statements continue to take place both inside and outside Parliament is because we continue to keep electing them into power,� she said.

JAG urged the public to say �no� to sexist MPs in the general election.
