Aiyak

It started raining last night.

Then at about 3am, suddenly there was a bright lightning followed immediately the loud thunder “boooOOOOM”

Son was awaken by the loud noise. Luckily daughter still fast asleep.

This morning, when I come to work….. eh? Cannot connect to the Internet?

aiyak

As you can see, my modem support up to 4 port.

Now port No1 apparently is ‘lightning stricken’.

Miraculously, all other port are functioning well.

I am now contemplating, whether I should send the modem back for repair? (still under warranty)

Or whether I should ‘live with it’, as there are still 3 functioning ports?

(I only own two PC)

I would live with it. Just so much hassle to go out and battle the crowds and get stuck in jams.

What? You didn’t unplug it? I’ve had 2 modems fried by lighting. Got a new replacement unit. Of course I didn’t tell them that I didn’t unplug it!

LM True. Finding a parking space is a nightmare

michelle Minimum 6 weeks before they will think of returning it to you. And that is considered fast, by their standard

If you can live without the modem for a few months, get it fixed for free since under warranty. Else, just live with it. In a few years you’ll probably want to change modem anyway.

Adino No offense, but if I want to live without the modem for few months, why would I buy the modem in the first place? :P
I would only consider repairing it, if the shop ‘pinjam’ me a modem for these few months. But I doubt the shop will do it.
Anywa, I have never use any modem more than 24 months, haha

    PC ok ?

didi No. The PC and the modem were switched off.
    PC is functioning well.
Maybe the port malfunction has nothing to do with the lightning even?

haha~~ then this is another lesson for you, remember to unplug!! :p
If the shop won’t lend you any modem, see if you can borrow any from your friend, then you still can send the modem to repair….. ^_^

ECL, we at Singapore not need to worry, because all our cables are underground …

Yenjai, if the trouble to change the modem is so much more than just switch to another port. So just stay with it loh…
