As Harry Potter has ended, and the story of Eragon is waiting for the 3rd installment, I have to move onto a new series.
The ever-so-kind Dobbs suggested Terry Brooks.
Though she had suggested some other series, after reading through his writing, I finally settled on Sword of Shannara.

I guess every book-readers will agree that: not only the story has to be good, the way the author tell the story is even more important.
In this department, this particular author definitely scores high mark.
And I found out that dcyk is an avid follower of this series. Look at his comment here. Thank you.
And yes, fibrate. It is a fantasy novel. Elf, dwarf, gnomes…

actually, i used to be in sci-fi also….then i lost touch leh. i find that one has to start fm first book..or else, very lost leh! it is quite interesting..
but i cudn’t read lord of the rings la…i really cudn’t! too longggggggggg
I loved fantasy! My favourites are the Belgariad series (David Eddings) and Dungeons and Dragons Chronicles series (Hickman and Weiss). I think at one point in my life my dream guy was an elf!

Whoa I found kaki already!
Here’s some great ones to read:
1) Sword of Truth Series (Wizards First Rule,.. all the way to Chainfire) by Terry Goodkind
2) Death Gate Cycle Series (also by Weiss and Hickman)
If you like Sci Fi, check out Kevin J Anderson’s the Saga of Seven Suns series (now at Book 6: Metal Swarm)
Oh, played this as a computer game many years ago!
hehehe, like i said i followed the series until the merger of two different titles, it was hard to continue reading without fully reading the other whole thread. that fella merged it so that the other list of books have more readers but the writing there didn’t appeal to me.
Anyhow i’m still hunting for my Bernard Cornwell books, so far only Borders have them and at 50++ per book, expensive
i’ll try get Kinokuniya to order the books are somewhat cheaper there.
You love to read ?
I like to read but mostly in chinese..
As much as I am a “fantasist”, I cannot read fantasy stories - but perhaps I will watch the movie if there is one. I have however found Harry Potter to be interesting, so there is hope for me, don’t worry
Adino Thanks. Will keep that in mind
keeyit Yes. Reading is one of … my hobby?
Jewelle Wow. Harry potter movie?
Though I would like to take credit for the recommendation, it was actually Palmdoc who suggested Terry Brooks to you. Glad you are enjoying it!
I started off with his Word/Void books. I’ve only just read the 1st King of Shannara (the Prequel) and now starting on the Sword of Shannara. His literary style makes his books easy to read yet grips you as the story line keeps you turing the pages (or press the Dpad if you doing ebooks)
Legolas is so not my type! My favourite elf (the one in the centre):

dobbs, palmdoc Sorry for the mistake. It can get confusing sometimes ^-^
Yes. I really like his style. Not too draggy, and yet descriptive
fibrate Ohh…. ok
i suggest you look for his magic kingdom for sale/sold series, hehehe quite an ok series although it ended.
Thanks. But that will have to wait until I finish the whole Shannara series, right? ^-^
