So pressured

Posted in Uncategorized on Oct 8th, 2007, 4:35 pm by yenjai

I put up an advertisement for the vacancy of nurse.

Naturally, these few days, quite a few turn up for interview.

Today, another girl turn up.

I asked her: Where do you stay?

Her: Seremban

I looked at her. No joke. She came with a travelling bag even!

Aghast, I asked: You travelled from Seremban to PJ, just for this interview?

Her: Yes. If I got this job, I will stay with my friend.

Me: If you don’t get this job, then you have to travel back to Seremban (empty handed)?

Her: Yes.

Wah. You know how much pressure I am facing?

If she is really not suitable for the job, how to(sampai hati) tell her?

I traveled 9 hours in a bus from KT to KL to attend an interview which was scheduled to begin at 9am. Nobody gave me a special look just because I had just arrived at 6am in the morning and took my shower at KL Sentral, you know.

If she isn’t fit enough for the job, you could say something like, “Thank you for making the trip here for the interview, but we have decided to hire another person who is more experienced. But we wish you all the best in your future endeavours.”

    There!

Y’know what? Fantastic effort. I had an ex-colleague who got to work everyday from Seremban. He took a bus at 6am, reached work at 8am. Went home everyday at 8pm. Think he’s still with the co!

    Dedication la.

Of course, feel pressured la. But, still…. look at her qualifications and her ppl skills lor.

Well, I guess most of us had this experience, right? especially those are from small town, and want to work in big city.
I heard that some companies actually provide the air ticket for you to go for interview….. haha~~ but, of coz, mostly don’t.

I always think nurse needs to be kindhearted and patient. haha~~ and I always think that personality and attitude are more important than skills. (Simply because I’m not skillful? haha)
