No rice

So far, I had three different maids.

Though they really have different characters, they have one thing in common though : They tell you everything only at the very last minute.

Example:

Today, when my wife was having her dinner, suddenly the maid said: Sudah tak ada beras (no more rice).

no rice

Wife reply: We will buy this Saturday.

Maid: Memang sebiji pun sudah tak ada. Esok sudah tak boleh masak.

*&^%@#

Do you have to tell us last minute? Do you think we have time to buy grocery everyday?

Then she added cordially: Garam pun sudah tak ada.

It really takes a lot of effort to stay calm.

ya, hahaha… sama sama here. I have had 6 maids, all except one are lidat. sark bo sek (half-boiled) ones. Well, if they are that smart, they wouldn’t have to be maids already, right?

This is small case, they lie, cheat, steal, that is worse. I rather prefer to do the housework myself if I have the time. haiz….

I think all maids certainly have some common ‘attitudes’ and ‘behaviour’. Hehehe… feel quite helpeless actually, almost no way to ‘correct’ them.

Mine has that similar prob but not that bad la..at least does not leave us with one grain of rice…But she is very ‘mor’ (slow) in doing her work..so slow that we have to finish her work at the end of the day..

Practise with her “list of things to buy”. Maid also human. Sometimes we just forget or darn lazy la. Or maybe she is playing tai chi. No beras then eat out. Woot!

Maids really test our patience, I agree, but then some cannot live without them, so the keyword here seems to be
    “yen”…..cantonese for endure!

Yes, looks like they are all the same. My aunt had a maid that kept telling her that they had no more rice left, and they were going thru soemthing like 10kgs a week, and there were only 3 in the family. Then she realised, her maid was selling rice to the maid next door, who was tasked with buying rice for the neighbours family! Her maid was profiteering from it all, selling rice by the cups!!

This is a common and universal fact of life. Haven’t your clinic assistants told you, “Doc, Actifed sudah habis, satu sudu pun tak ada”? he he….
