So let me tell you a little bit about chinese culture. My daughter at 4 month old.
Whenever anyone see her, their advise is : Please shave her head. It will help the hair to grow. That is actually a popular chinese practise.
I had no idea how the practise came about.
Anyway, since we had similar experience with our son, we are really bochap (not really bothered).
This was at 1 year 5 months old.

The hair is still sparse. We obviously got hammered left and right by our neighbours / relatives/ friends.
Some of them even called us ‘dense’.
Stubborn as we are, we just get on with our daily life.
This was at 2 year 8 months.

Turn out ok, right?

Turned out adorable. You obviously knew what you were doing. She has beautiful hair. Happy weekend.
oh she’s cute! look at that jet black, straight hair. she’ll be an envy of others one day. happy weekend!
incog & nito, ipanema thanks for the compliment
we have a Chinese daughter also, and her head was shaved when she was a baby. She is almost 2 and her hair is still really sparse!! I hope it grows!! Great pictures.
It turned out very cute! I wonder how such ideas get started?
wow..
very bak sut sut, wat lude lude~
(cantonese)
Better than ok, they are beautiful! I had not heard about that custom.
She’s Beautiful!!!
Worked out just fine. She’s beautiful.
My photo is posted . . . it will make you laugh!
Yeah, not only ok, she’s cute!
Yeah, I don’t know where this practice came from, but I heard that my brother’s hair got worse after his hair was shaved when he was young. So, my mum didn’t help us to shave our hair since then. haha~~ (luckily)
She looks so much like you. Definitely going to b a ravishing beauty one day and the most sought after medic student in UM
Eventually it comes. I had two bald children until they were one. Both blond at that time. Very cute little ones you have.
wonder how those granny tales come about..
your girl-girl is very pretty
I have heard about that shaved head idea before too. So odd to see a baby without any hair at all! I think she turned out just right. Her hair is beautiful.
Such a beautiful little girl. It’s an “old wives tale” about shaving the hair to make it grow thicker. There is no proof it works, and more proof it doesn’t. Great photo for the theme.
Drop by my lair
to see my hair,
With time to spare,
others will be there.
How adorable. She is a beautiful child.
babies…toothless and without hair….they are always so cute and lovable.
I heard from my sister that ah ma(granny) said that at 4 months, shaving their hair is for ‘cleansing’, so that they will be ‘clean’ when they go to the temples. Well, its a chinese older generation belief.
your gal is such a sweetie
Your daughter is very cute.
I heard that if baby times never shaves to “botak”, their hair wouldn’t grow much when they grow up…
Just like my girlfriends… haha
She’s turning out MORE than alright. She’s turning out beautifully!
You can’t listen to everything people tell you. We once had a stranger tell us to let our daughter chew on a chicken bone to help her teeth! Weird!
She turned out Purrfect!!! Just beautiful
Happy Hunting!
Interesting, my mother is Russian and they (at least her family) thought the same thing about shaving babies heads to grown thicker hair. Your baby is adorable, and her hair is beautiful too! Thanks for stopping by!
Wow…she’s beautiful. She must have followed the mother’s beauty. Did they also tell you to soak your baby in a tub of “Or Kao” or stout to make her skin smooth and soft?
Anyway, nice post you have here. Keep it up and have a nice weekend
Yes, it turned out beautifully. She is absolutely adorable….. so glad you didn’t shave the little one’s hair!
Her hair looks just fine to me. She’s such an adorable little girl! I never knew that it was custom to shave their heads to make their hair grow better.
Awww, she is a sweetie!
She is adorable and definited turned out just right!
so sweet!!!
My mom used to tell me that my hair is not as much as my sis’s and not as black as my sis’s cos they didnt get me shaved when i was young. Her head was kept shaved for a long time.

That advice from the neighbours… is it for adults too?
Thanks for organising a fun evening with the bloggers on Friday. I just got back to my PC today.
Bernard I guess you mean … I should shave myself, too? Haha
Here in the Philippines, a child’s hair is not cut until he/she reaches 1 year old and we keep part of the hair that was cut.
But indeed, shaving off the hair will help it grow. I’ve been told that baby hair was really meant to be shaved off after all to give way to the baby’s “true” hair - whatever that means.
You have a very beautiful and cute daughter! She looks so adorable!
Happy week ahead!
errr… yenjai, didn’t your neighbour advise you the same?
HQ : Nanti he go n shave it bald , kalau tak grow back how?..
