I can still remember few years back, AirAsia had a long process of appealing the Government in allowing them to operate out of the airport in Subang. Government had decided against it, citing multiple reasons. One of the reason was : the residents in Subang are against any commerical airline operate from the airport.
To many us of, the Government was just plainly covering MAS a**.
Fast forward to today. You know Firefly? The subsidiary company of MAS?

Low-cost carrier Firefly has received the green light to operate from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said that in a decision by the Cabinet “a few weeks ago”, Firefly, which currently flies out of the Penang International Airport in Bayan Lepas, could move to Subang anytime.
So now all the reasons cited by them become irrelevant now? Those protest by residents are just conveniently sweep aside?
Yes. Firefly currently only have propeller-based aircraft. But do you think once they own jet plane, the Government will kick them out of Subang Airport?

the decision makers are just crap
this is why we are falling behind Thailand and Indonesia
there will be no surprise when Vietnam catch up one day
0_0..
firefly is under Mas ger..
now only i know~
The condition is that the planes from Subang MUST be propeller jets, just like the current user of Subang Airport, Berjaya Air. I’m sure it would be another hoo-haa if it is otherwise, particularly from AirAsia.
zack, welcome to my blog
baby, yes, Firefly is under MAS
while FAX is under Tony (Airasia)
Never b surprised by any decisions in Malaysia
This is why what our government like to do…
But at least MAS is getting profit… Not like Proton…
Izzit cheaper? I mean the fares? I owes loved Air Asia because their pilots are very experience better than MAS anytime (to me anyway)
FH, Firefly is supposed to fly to domestic destination not covered by anyone else. So whether it is cheap (or not), you will fly with Firefly if you decide to take the air route.
Something needs to be done about the monopoly route between KL and SIN. for example, allow the low cost carriers, build a bullet train track.
LM, that route is more about politics, than about the good of our people
Anything can be done, because Malaysians have very bad memory and very forgiving hearts.
Anyway if there are flights from Subang Airport also good la, I don’t have to travel all the way to KLIA.
Adino Thanks for coming here.
Yes, it is convenient for us, but then, those routes are rather … not popular.
