Old kampung

The other day, when I was talking to my wife, I said: As if they are staying in kampung.

My wife suddenly said: Ain’t we also feel like staying in an old tiny town?

If you know where I stayed, you will know that:

1) All the shops here are over 30 years old.

2) We have in-door wet market, less than 5 mins walking distance from our house. (in-door wet market is actually quite rare in PJ)

3) The business with the most number of shops is — spare parts / workshop for car.

4) When we walk through the shoplots, most if not all the shop owners know us.  In fact, if our son got lost in the neighbourhood (Please don’t let it happen), most likely those who saw him crying will know where his parent is.

5) We walk to our neighbourhood traditional chinese coffeeshop for our breakfast.

6) My office is only a few doors away from my house.

So … when my wife ask me that question : Don’t we feel like staying in kampung style …

I reply: Isn’t this the best way of living?

Yup it certainly is nice to know all your neighbours, which perhaps is not such a common thing in KL/PJ. I’m at home most of the time so at least I do know my immediate neighbours.

Kampung style living is the best I fully agree, I dun like city life, people very rude, driving oso not courteous, and many more.

Radioactive, really? As far as I know, Section 14 does not have in-door wet market. It only has in-door food court, which is pretty wet, haha.

Back home, our family have been living in the neighbourhood for like 20 odd years, everyone from the neighbours, sellers in the wet mkt, hawker centre, shops all know each other very well. Sometimes the aunties or uncles will say, ‘oh time flies huh, last time u all, all small small go kindergarten, now all grown up, married, some with kids even” or “ur mom left this behind in the shop just now, give u”..it does feel like kampung style where everyone know each other and I absolutely love that ‘ren qing wei’ :)

your place …..it’s a very convenient and good location and since you hang around the neighbourhood often enough, every body there will know you and family. :)
