There has been quite a bit of controversy over the use of pan-asian faces on our local advertisements, lately.
Lets look at the few faces which we had become familiar with.
Elaine Daly (Eurasian Chinese)
Marion Caunter (Sorry. I can’t get her parentage)
Aishah Sinclair (Malay English)
Stephanie Chai (Chinese Italian)
After looking at these photos, it bears the question:
Does advertisers like them because of their pan-asian look, or because they are pretty?
not all so pretty eh… but majority are good looking la.
The pretty ones are the ones picked up by the modelling agencies.
a pretty face can launch a thousand hearts lar.
Definitely because they are pretty, and the mixed ones are pretty so…
