5 things you don’t know – ‘meme’ (pt 4)

I started learning piano at the age of 7.

My piano teacher always say: Practise at home. Keep practising!

Me? I usually practise only 2 hours before my teacher turn up.

Luckily, I usually manage to pass all the exams. (I don’t know how I did that!)

Looking back, I think I like the ‘playing the song’ part. I dislike the monotonous part of practising though.

From my piano lessons, I guess I learn something important in life. Discipline! You have to practise, and practise, before you can be good in it. The practising part will be dry and boring, but you have to go through that to get to the fun part.

Footnote: I sold off the piano when I went into Uni, to get my Uni fee. That’s the last time I really sit down at a piano.

    Just me, yeap. Grade 8.
Nope. That’s what everyone had ask me over the years : Can you still play?

My wife frequently said: You wasted so much money learning piano.
I will definitely said the money was well spent. I learnt a lot of discipline from those lessons.

Bernard, I would have to use a vacuum cleaner to get rid of all the layers of dust, before I will be able to sort that out of my memory ^-^

So… when are the kids going to start? Perhaps they will jog your memory as well. ;-)

I guess she didn’t learn the piano?
Then you have to show her how disciplined you are as a result of your piano lessons ;-)

    “I usually practise only 2 hours”….
When I read this, I was stunned, wow~~ practise 2 hours everyday. haha~~
People always said “Kids who learn piano won’t be bad.”
I guess learning piano doesn’t only build your discipline, but also cultivate your mind, emotion….
Yeah, what you’ve learnt will never be wasted, coz you definitely learnt something from it. ^_^

Arg.. I didn’t touch piano much recent 3 yrs too, but everytime I go back hometown I can still play nice songs after few hours practice. I think the “playing technique” will be forever if you really willing to spend time on it.
Let ur daughter plays maybe and you can practice gather together with her :)
Don’t waste another of your skills :)

I miss playing the piano… didn’t miss it much when I’m back at home. Yesterday I was at a seminar in a clubhouse… saw a grand piano… felt the urge to go right up to the piano and start playing… but didn’t lar… shy ma
