Eldest (Book)

Posted in Uncategorized on Dec 10th, 2006, 6:54 pm by yenjai

I went to MPH yesterday, hoping to find a suitable book for my son’s reading.

Then I saw this book, Eldest, on the shelf.

I already know that is the second volume for the Eragon series. (opps, did I commit a sin in telling you that there IS a sequel to Eragon?)

Anyway, I was blown away by the sheer size and thickness of the book.

To illustrate, let me show compare it with a standard thickness manga, which everyone knows very well.

Here is the standard copy of manga.

Here is the comparison in size.

Still not convince that it is big? Now lets look at the thickness of it.

Scary, isn’t it? Feel like holding a copy of dictionary in my hand.

This is a journey not only for Eragon, haha.

Is Eragon suitable for kids? Has anyone seen a preview?

If not mistaken Eragon is something like Lord of the Rings(LOR) or otherwise can wait till I watch it first then tell you guys about it. It is not as old as LOR quite recent i think about a boy,Eragon and a dragon, a fantasy written for children as was LOR. It is a good book - i bought both the books during a cheap sale many months ago but haven’t got to reading it yet! Guess I am a collector of sorts!

Winnie, nope. The book is for me.
    My son reads Doreamon A.

Bernard, the book has its dark moment. I am not sure about the movie though.

The movie “Eragon” didn’t receive rave reviews. Many said the book is better. The characters in the movie have no depth. Watched it yet?

The most interesting part about Eragon, is his ability to ’share thought’ with his dragon.
Obviously a movie cannot portray that effectively, thus the lack of depth.
