Outstation Cheque

Posted in Uncategorized on Dec 3rd, 2006, 1:42 pm by yenjai

I received a cheque from Perlis few days back.

When I banked in the cheque, I noticed that they charge me commission.

cheque

Although it is a tiny amount, I still feel cheated.

In the era of globalisation, why would they still charge commission for outstation cheque? Please, it is still within our country, right? All transaction are actually transmitted electronically, no?

I also don’t like the idea of having a small charge on any services offer by the bank…

someone in terengganu banked in some cash (bank counter service) into my kl account and i was charged commission also. if the transaction was done thru the cash deposit machine, then there’ll be no charges. got logic ah?

Nyonya, to me, anything which is within the country, should not have all these petty charges.
Before they charge us for ‘cashier services’, they should make sure that every single branch of bank has a whole array of ATM, providing services like:
    1) getting small denomination of notes and coins
    2) cash deposit
    3) cheque deposit

The problem is, most if not all the machines are down on sundays and public holidays. What right do they have to charge us?

(most branches of public bank don’t even have cash deposit machines)

Earl-ku, thanks for coming to my blog.

Knowing that it will be charged, doesn’t mean it is right to be charged.

Last time I opened a bank account in Penang, then I wanted to withdraw money in Ipoh, they charged me RM0.50 for process fee.
I never had this problem when withdrawin money from a KL bank account.
The staff from the bank told me, KL and Ipoh belong to the same region, but Penang is from another region. That’s why they don’t charge you any fee for processing Perak cheque, I guess.
Yeah, what a stupid idea it is, right? Moreover, from the same bank.

kaka, it is stupid from our view point.
I bet it is brilliant from the bank’s view.

Like kaka, i was told the same thing too. Within The northern region, meaning perlis, kedah & penang-no charges. Within KL & Perak no charges too. but i wonder, taiping n Nibong Tebal,Penang, so near got charges ah?
Dulu kala, tak advance lagi, can pahamla if kena charges, but now everything sudah online. i wonder why too. may be they r so used to it and didnt feel like changing it, plus the rakyat pun tak banyak bising.
ok la, I go check check first, get back here when i got more feedback from the bank ppl. :-)

Obviously if no one complain, the bank will not remove the charges on its own
