Photo Printing

I went to a photo printing shop yesterday.

Wohooo. So high tech now. I just put in my CD into a terminal, then some menu will popup, asking : photo size, number of photos and stuff.

The terminal will then archive the whole CD within 10 sec. I will get back my CD (or thumbdrive) after that. Cool!

I will get all my photo within 4 hours.

The question that came up in my mind:

How many of us actually send our photo to print? I am sure there are plenty out there who just view their photo on screen, right? Does the shop really need to invest in this? A shop assistant can do the job too, if not better?

    1. A shop assisstant costs more than a machine, perhaps?

    2. Perhaps this is an industry that doesn’t need a shop-front. Just upload the photos and pay online. And receive your prints by mail. Perfect for an online business. Costs even less than a shop with a machine.

    3. I rarely print my photos nowadays. :-)

wow, expensive!! it’s cheaper if you “wash” it in the photo shop, only cost 40 cent each, and can get 35 cent if more than 100.

    RM0.50 each? it’s kinda expensive. :p
I never print my digital photos before.
But to some elderly people, they still prefer hardcopy.
My mum always complains that I never show her photos after i’ve taken with my digital cam. hehe~~
Well, they do not know how to use computers, so it’s better to print the photos out for them.
I have friends who do not have computers, so they have to print the photos out too.

How’s the quality of the photo after printing out?
How bout getting a printer that can print photos for yourself? is it expensive? I’d consider buying a printer if I’d print photos often.

    Kaka, you can always
    1) plug in your digital camera to your 29″ TV, and show all the photos to your mum.

    2) burn all the digital photos into a CD.
Do you know that when you put such CD into a DVD player, the player will automatically show the photo one by one, as a slide show?

    3) Quality of photo obviously is superb. This is a real photo shop with an experienced guy looking over the photo. If the photo appears a bit ‘out’, he does tweak the contrast / brightness.

As for buying a printer to print photo at home, the short answer is : NO.
I may write a short blog later on that.
