I was chatting with a friend today when he noticed that my booklet of income tax was still lying on the shelf collecting dust. Thus our coversation invariably swayed towards tax. It was during that moment that I learn something new. My income tax number is 05xxxxxxxx-01 (0) My wife tax number will naturally be 05xxxxxxxx-01 (1) My friend suddenly asked me: Do you know that the last number can be a –2– ? I was really amazed. 0 for husband, 1 for wife. 2 ……. ? Then he drop the bomb: 2 is for 2nd wife. I was stunned for 3 seconds. Then I can’t stop laughing for the next 60 seconds. I guess we are among the few countries in the world which has such absurd system.
